Onionlab is a Barcelona-based studio specializing in the production of audiovisual shows and immersive experiences. For more than 15 years, the studio has combined art, design and technology to create cultural immersive experiences for a wide range of clients.
The studio's work spans museums, light festivals, creative centers, brands and music events, reflecting a practice built as much on technical range as artistic vision. This breadth of client work has shaped Onionlab's reputation for versatility across different scales and formats of immersive design.
Onionlab is led by Jordi Pont, Creative Director and Co-Founder, who has worked on dozens of 3D mapping projects around the world. With more than two decades at the forefront of the audiovisual arts, Pont's experience guides the studio's technical and creative direction.
Under Pont's leadership, the Onionlab team delivers work that unites artistic vision with technical precision, combining design and technology to shape immersive experiences for cultural and commercial audiences alike. Though based in Barcelona, the project manager for Onionlab’s Liberty’s Beacon experience, Kenton Steinhardt, grew up in Omaha, Nebraska.

About the artwork:
Remember Forward
Our first inspiration was the monument itself, the towering presence that rises tall and watches over the city. With all the photos of the tower in the skyline and the never-ending number of important events hosted on its grounds, it is a goliathan testament to how much this Memorial means to the people of Kansas City.
As we studied the meaning behind the Tower, the Great Frieze and the Museum, we came to understand the human journey through the First World War – the passage from honor and sacrifice, through courage, toward the hope of a lasting peace. We wanted to pay respect to that meaning, and to raise awareness of the Memorial's honorable history and its enduring mission.
With all this in mind, we wanted to create an authentic and emotional experience. Using light, we rebuild the Tower from darkness, transform it into a living archive of faces, memories and symbolism, and let each scene pay respect to the four Guardians and the story of the Great Frieze. And in the final moments, as every value merges into a single beacon of light, we hope to unite not only the meaning of the Memorial, but the audience themselves, standing shoulder to shoulder with their neighbors in the shared understanding that together we are stronger.
Our deepest hope is that the audience will understand these values were handed to them by heroes a century ago. In remembering their legacy, it falls to each of us to carry these values forward in our own lives, every day.
